Monday

monday monday monday

we went biking today instead of our usual hiking trips. we rode down the mountain to salem pond. because we lack the leg strength to bike back up the mountain, our mom came to get us and take us home.

we went to a gas station and bought a 44 oz. drink and chips. the drink didn't last more than 5 minutes.

Sunday

life or something like it

We took this picture tonight while walking. My dad's camera has this black blur that shows up in every picture. One thing we love about summer are the walks at night with our best friend.

Our garden.

One Saturday we planted all these vegetables. They include tomatoes, cucumbers, rhubarb, sweet potatoes, several types of squash, green and red peppers, cilantro, peas, garlic, onions, hot peppers, egg plant, lettuce, green and red cabbage, and beets.

The chicken coop my dad built all by himself (with our help, of course)

Speaking of our dad... Happy Fathers Day. We love you!

Monday

monday is our day.

We have started a new tradition: hiking every monday. Although our "traditions" are usually short lived, we've managed to keep this one going for two whole weeks. on the first monday, we found a hike called battle creek falls. the hike was beautiful. while climbing up we failed to realize how steep this trail actually was (please realize our definition of steep is actually not very steep at all). there was a lot of loose rock and this made the hike down a little scary at times. but we managed it safely.

today was our second monday. in the newspaper last week we found a interesting hike and decided to try it out. we found the trail head easily and began to hike. the easiness was short lived as we soon found out there were numerous trails and few markings. "great" we thought as we picked one randomly. several times we'd come to an intersection and find trails going in every direction. perhaps someone who has hiked more than us would have found their trail and followed it easily. but not us. i think the longest we stayed on our trail was 5 minutes. oh and this trail was called corner canyon loop trail. it was also very beautiful.

we can't wait to see what our hike will be next week! and maybe we'll even have a camera to take pictures.

Thursday

Guatemala 08

In February 08, we went to Guatemala with our dad for a little more than a week. My friend is going there tomorrow and it made me think about how much I liked it there, and I'm a little jealous.

Sunday

raccoons!

we got to feed raccoons. the raccoon above has milk all over his mouth. they are the cutest things ever! when you rub the back of their head, they start to purr.

(happy mother's day!)

Wednesday

Homemade Pizza

We made this pizza tonight. We used fresh mozzarella and basil. It was delicious.

The smoke detector only went off once;)

Tuesday

Biking

i

Today we were lucky enough to go biking along the provo river trail. This was our first adventure biking this year and it was definitely fun and exciting.

We learned a couple things....

  1. We have weak legs

  2. Water is always deeper than it appears. In picture 1, you can see that the tunnel has water in it. Bek decided to go through, only to find that what looked like one inch of water was really more than a foot. The pedals on her bike were completely under water; her shoes were wet the rest of the time.... lucky her

  3. When you go over bumps, lift up your butt

  4. When entering a tunnel, change your gear to 1. Doing so ensures the easiest exit, since it's up hill

  5. You can never have enough water
